PDIA began informally in 1991 and for thirteen years, the firm's focus was primarily on single-family residential projects, including custom designs and design-build, as well as single-family government housing.

In September 2004, PDI Architecture, LLC was formed. PDIA has now expanded its focus to include, multi-family, retail/office, mixed use, banking, light industrial and single family. Located in South Carolina, the majority of the firms work has been in the Southeastern states of South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Pat Iannelli also has experience in Florida and Alabama.
